About
Gary and Christina Long
Gary grew up in Hartland, NB, and Christina in Quispamsis, NB. They now serve full-time with One Hope Canada (formerly Canadian Sunday School Mission/CSSM Ministries).
Gary joined One Hope Canada after graduating from New Brunswick Bible Institute, in 1990, as the Assistant Director at Hampton Bible Camp. Christina joined him after her own graduation from NBBI, acceptance to the mission, and their marriage in 1992.
Gary and Christian changed roles in the fall of 1995 to direct another CSSM camp: Cape Breton Bible Camp. They sensed the Lord changing their ministry focus and resigned from Cape Breton Bible Camp at the end of 1999. Then in April 2000, Gary began his nine years of ministry as the CSSM's Atlantic Branch Director. During the summers of those nine years, Gary and Christina spoke at CSSM Camps and held VBSs for local churches, except for the summer of 2006 when Gary directed Hampton Bible Camp. Gary resigned from the Atlantic Branch Director position in 2009 and spent a year as the branch office administrator.
From 2010 to 2015, Gary and Christina ministered as Itinerant Missionaries taking opportunities to share the gospel and disciple in various places, including their community Middle School where Gary served as a mentor. Gary also spoke and continues to speak regularly in children and youth ministries in local churches.
Each summer has brought a new adventure for them over the past 30 years, serving in leadership at all six One Hope Canada Atlantic camps and directing the five Maritime camps for at least one season. The 2026 season will be their twelth summer directing Sandy Cove Bible Camp. No matter where they are, their ministry includes teaching God’s Word through music, drama, ventriloquism, and more.
Gary and Christina now reside in Somerville, NB, where Gary grew up. They have four adult children and four grandchildren.
Amy Kaufman
Born and raised in Ontario, Amy has served at a summer camp in some capacity for ten summers. After graduating from New Brunswick Bible Institute in 2020 and serving at Sandy Cove for the summer of 2020, she officially became a missionary with One Hope Canada as Sandy Cove’s first-ever Program Manager in August 2020. She is responsible for developing, managing, and expanding the programs that Sandy Cove has to offer. In addition, she is also currently keeping Sandy Cove’s social media accounts active.
Since Amy was 15, she has taught swimming lessons and became a lifeguard at 16. She is excited to use her experience to expand the use of SCBC’s waterfront by partnering with the Lifesaving Society to offer their Swim for Life program as well as their Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross courses.
Amy recently moved to Fredericton, NB, to be closer to camp and to be able to connect with both summer workers and campers throughout the year. She loves the Lord, children, and water. With the excitement that each year brings, she loves serving in camp ministry and is always excited to see campers and workers return every summer.
About Sandy Cove
Started in 1949, Sandy Cove Bible Camp began on Davidson Lake to serve and minister to children and youth in the Fredericton and surrounding areas. Some things that have never changed are the amazing sunsets, the crazy amounts of fun that campers have here, and the desire that all campers grow closer to Christ in the time that they are at Sandy Cove Bible Camp.
SCBC now offers Camps of all ages; Family Camps (all ages), Pee Wee Camps (5-7), Junior Camps (7-10), Jr. Middle Camps (8-12), Middle School Camps (10-13), Teen Camps (13-18) and Young Adult Retreats (18-35).
